Is this at all possible, that a virus could make these symptoms, or do something similar, whereby people 'turn' in some form or another, killing/maming and then infecting other people? Could something developed in a military laboratory or other place do this. I'm deadly serious, not asking for stupid things about politicians being zombies, or drug users.

I think everything is possible. I'm pretty sure there are many secrets that the goverment and scientist hide from us, in order to keep some kinda of order and peace in our world. But I'm pretty sure there alot more wierd and hard to believe things that are happening today in our world that we don't know about, only a few might know, but its kept top secret. But yes, I think it's possible, I just think it could be a man-made virus, maybe in the long run something like this is capable of happening.

I don't know about some of the affects of the 'rage' virus (hemorraging, increased adrenaline, etc.), but there are several diseases in animals (though I don't know any in humans) that cause increased aggression and, in some cases, insanity. It's possible that a virus like the 'rage' virus could be deliberately engineered, but it is highly unlikely to develop naturally under any circumstances. The speed with which the virus progresses is the most questionable aspect of the virus. Most viruses that cause aggression and insanity (like rabies) set in slowly. However, if a virus was purposefully created with the sole intent of damaging the brain quickly and causing madness, it is possible that it could take affect in a matter of thirty minutes to an hour, nowhere near as fast as 'rage', but much, much faster than rabies and definitely fast enough to cause it to spread rapidly from person to person and cause a serious epidemic.

What i got from the film was that rage left unabated on our streets, world, will eventually wipe us out. In this case the virus is a metaphor for the contagion.

When it comes to manipulation of the genes anything is possible. There is no end to what we could do. Still, it is not worth worrying about. Most medical advances will be positive ones.
