Bush is leading the USA further into the actions of a gulag state of terror against the world and its own citizens. No habeus corpus, no rights except those granted by an insane and incompetent president (bush) given counsel by his pet monkey (Gonzales). The USA is the most dangerous laughingstock in the world. It would be pathetic if it was not the greatest destabilizing agent on the planet, led by the greatest most powerful buffoon in its history. BLAME the refined wealthy war hero-coward Kerry for losing to this moron and allowing the USA to spiral downward into the abyss. It will take generations to un-bush the mess that george has brought.

The Patriot Act has transformed the USA into a monarchy. The sheep of the USA have agreed with every whim of the buffoon bush. His worldwide terror will not end whn he leaves office...his programs will live long after he is off the world stage, like his lapdog blair. 911 happened on his watch, and he is responsible for the disaster, and the loss of rights being asleep at the wheel cost.

I can not imagine how foolish MORON bush must be saying only one explosion killing 3,000 happened while he was in office. SHAME.

You raise many excellent points. I am deeply ashamed by the antics of this administration. The president has on numerous occasions promoted the use of torture.

TX ridicules our torture as "panties on the head" and "soggy fruitloops." Yeah, those things are so easy to dismiss. So were wiring genitals up to car batteries, broom handle sodomy, frequent beatings, blanket parties, water boarding, mock execution, and actual execution.

We executed more than 30 prisoners at Abu Ghraib. Only a handful of those deaths were ever investigated. And we continue to beat and torture prisoners there. The only thing that has changed is that the guards are no longer allowed to bring in cameras to document our torture.

President Bush promised to demolish Abu Ghraib when Saddam's notorious prison first fell into our hands four years ago. Never did I imagine we would repeat, and even exceed all of Saddam's crimes there. Saddam did many very bad things at Abu Ghraib, but there were no stories of forcing men to fellate each other while women guards gazed on, or anal rape, or any of the other horrible things we have done (some much, much worse).

I have no idea why conservatives dismiss our torture as "college pranks." I went to college. I must have passed out drunk the night I was sodomized and beaten to death. I sure don't remember any of it.

Nice rant, but you forgot a couple of key items...PRISONERS OF WAR are not charged criminally and are held by the capturing government for two basic reasons 1) to prevent the enemy combatant from returning to battle against our own or allied forces 2) to obtain intelligence relevent to enemy operations, structure, strength, tactics, logistics etc.

No, a POW does not have a right to a trial, habious corpus and many other "civil rights" afforded to US citizens under our constitution and laws. Again, they are not criminals, they are enemy combatants.

As for all that "torture", they are treated better and provided for better at Guitmo than they were in the field in Iraq killing US Soldiers and allied forces. They are housed, fed, have adequate sanitaion facilities and are provided a Koran and Prayer Mat, so they can observe their religous practices. They are provided medical treatment for illness or injury and provided clothing. Ya, the US are a bunch of animals treating the POWs that way.

Are they interrogated and subjected to psychological manipulation to get them to divulge information that could help our forces, absolutely, but we don't behead them on TV, shoot them execution style and throw them in the river, or just plant bombs for them to trip while walking around the exercise yard.

Another thing you forgot to mention is that they welcome the opportunity to die for Allah if they can take out an Infidel with them. Life has no value to them. Maybe you didn't see the recent news story about the orphans in Iraq found chained to a bed, starving while food was being horded and stored for insurgents just feet away from their orphanage prison. Seeing how the enemy treats their own children should give you a clue as to their lack of values.

If you think that the insurgents in Iraq are worthy of your sympothy and support, grab your skull cap, prayer mat and Koran and feel free to take the next available flight to the middle east, denounce your US citizenship, and see how well you do under their political system. Complain about their system like you are ours, and your head would be on a stick in the town square.

So which is it? Is gitmo a horrible place where innocents are held without writs of habeus corpus or a resort with free healthcare and higher living standards for terrorists than we provide to our own 9/11 heroes?
I've heard of playing on the short attention spans of American people by the left, but such blatant self-contradiction is simply laughable.

How can we be proud of things that - when examined closely either do not exist or can be considered to be example of us diligently following the rules?

For example the EU human rights investigator investigated Gitmo and declared that the prisoners there were treated better than prisoners in European prisons.

Abu Ghrib was an example of the military policing its own (remember that the those photos you saw were released by the military to the news media).

And the torture claims are based on BS and hot air.

very real. they torture prisoners of conflict way worse over there. we didnt fairly torture them, merely made some severe mockery of em. and made them seem gay in photos, yet they weren't starved, or tortured like they do us in the event that they have been @ my homestead, i could placed up a demonstration that announces "zoo" because of the fact terrorists are animals, and in case you wind up in that place, you of course werent being an upstanding citizen......

I fully support whatever measures need to be taken by our intelligence agents to obtain information that will safeguard our Nation and our troops in harms way.

Also keep in mind that these militant insurgents are classified under the Geneva Protocols as "illegal combatants" as they wear no uniform and do not represent the lawful government of Iraq. As such, under international law, they have no rights.

Do you have any good ideas or do you just spout hateful rhetoric?

The right to express your opinion freely without fear of governmental reprisal found its uttermost expression in the United States.

That is an interesting bit of trivia, yes?

I'd rather have President Bush in charge of protecting the USA than Kerry. Do you believe everything you hear on ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN? Do you want suspected terrorists running free to blow up buildings? I don't.
