unfortunately 1979 is a bad year for after mkt. parts as a lot of parts are for everything except 79 mod.

Mine is a 79 sportster. I put it together from a basket case (or in my case a green tote case" ) Don't let people tell you that you have a bastard year and fill your head with that stuff. from 79 to 85, the parts that "make the bike go" are the same for the most part.
look on ebay. your harley davidson dealership will also be happy to sell you cork washers for 5 bucks each. If the dealership is any good, they will put you in contact with the company that manufactures the discont. parts.
FYI, a solenoid mounts upside down from the way it is showed in the shop manuel. Also symbols for TDC are different on the fly wheel. Just remember that the first one is Full advance and the second is TDC.
