i've gone through this many times. and a lot of times i'm the one with the suicidal thoughts. my friends always told me, there's always a better way to solve things than taking your own life. if you're willing to hurt the people who love you by taking your own life, then you really don't love them & you're selfish. life, eventually WILL get better, things seem to fall apart now, but there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. you just have to stay strong until you get there. i hope things are okay for you & your friend. remember : suicide is a permanent answer to a temporary problem [:

First of all you need to take the friend seriously. Talk over the problems and see if you can offer helpful advice. Tell the friend that sad feelings come and go, and you shouldn't act on a temporary emotion in a permanent way.

wow... it is hard. I would encourage you to stick by your friend. Don't try to tell them that YOU know how THEY feel. That does not help. If you are really worried, get them help. Anyway you need to. This is serious and trust me there is no worse pain then when a friend takes their own life. We truely don't understand how they are feeling and in a way that is a blessing. Be there for them; promise you will always be there for them; ask them to get help; take them to get help. Pray for them and with them. Love them so much. It is scary and needs to be dealt with. Bless you

I tell a friend that there are people who love them and I'm here to listen and help in any way I can. You can't get all crazy and yell at them to stop. It doesn't work that way. You have to let them know that you're there and that they deserve to live life in a healthy way.
