My period is very irregular. Is there anything you can take to make you ovulate....with and without going to the doctor...any over the counter meds?

Start eating well and exercise. If you haven't already, start taking prenatal vitamins. they won't harm you if you aren't pregnant. If you are overweight, this can be a factor. Take inventory of things going on in your life. If you notice you are under a lot of stress, this can make your cycle abnormal. Check with ovulation tests to see when you ovulate. If your periods are abnormal, this mean you are ovulating at different times of the month, but if your period fluctuates between 27 - 30 days, this is normal for most women. If you go without a period for 6 weeks or more, this is a sign of hormonal imbalance and you should see a doctor. the easiest things you can do is to be healthier.

Get the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility and start tracking your basal body temp.
You need to find out if and why you are not ovulating.
I don't know any over the counter or herbal remedies that have significant proof of inducing ovulation.
There are plently of prescriptions out there. The first step in ovulation drugs is clomid.

Just because you're period is irregular, doesn't mean you are not ovulating. Try the ovulation kits you can buy at the drugstore.

Vitex helps with helping you get regular periods, But you can also order Fertilaid from off the internet, I used it for two cycles and had a 27 day cycle the 1st month and a 28th cycle the second month
