Softball sized. I was home from college, and luckily my car was in the garage because it was raining and i was working on it. Then it sounded like a freight train coming up the hill. It destroyed my dad's suburban, totalled our roof, and at the highschool down the road the teachers had all the kids get in the hallways becuase it sounded like the school was getting shot at. There were something like 427 windows broken out of the school, and every car and school bus there was totalled!

I've seen hailstones about the size of golf balls many times, as I grew up in Tornado Alley in Texas. I've personally seen evidence of hailstones about the size of baseballs when a friend's van was caught in a horrible hail storm near Fort Worth. The van looked like it had been beaten with a baseball bat for hours, even though they were only in the storm for a few minutes. One hole in the windshield was easily big enough to stick my arm in, and their insurance company totaled out the van rather than pay for the repairs!
