They usually just ask your citizenship and check your license and ask what you are bringing, perhaps take a look at the stuff you are bringing over.
That said, crossing a border when you have warrants is a REAL bad idea. Systems are getting more linked as time goes on, at eventually all they'll have to do is swipe your license or enter info on it into a computer and find out if you are wanted. You don't want to find out that is the case by being arrested and sent to jail.
You can be picked up on a warrant at any time. Get that taken care of ASAP, before even thinking of going to Mexico. Unless of course, you aren't planning on coming back! :)

OK LET ME STRAIGHTEN OUT A FEW THINGS FIRST!!! The Mexican authorities can not check to see if you have Warrants in the U.S.!!! All you need is your I.D. and they only scan it when you walk through, so I wouldn't walk if I were you, because that is why they scan your I.D. If your in the car they just check your I.D., ask you for your citizenship, and either what you are bringing back from Mexico or what you were doing in Mexico. I live in San Diego and go frequently to Tijuana. So this should help you out with everything you need.

I don't remember them ever running the license but they will check it to make sure you live in the U.S. I believe that now you will also need a passport even to go to T.J. So you might want to call the passport department around your area. Usually post offices will have a department for passports.

You need a birth certificate these days, not just a drivers liscence. You might get into Mexico without it, but you will have a problem getting home.
You never know what they will ask.

I dont rem. even having to show them anything to enter Mexico, I did have to show my ID to enter back into the US though, BELIEVE ME YOU NEED TO GET UR WARRANTS UNDER CONTROL BEFORE ENTERING INTO MEXICO, the cops in TJ will arrest you for any reason at all to try and get u to pay them, and u do not want to be stuck in Mexico, they will def. run you when your coming back into the US and you will get stuck in a mexican prison, but it's on you to make your own decision
