During the winter? One second it was nice and sunny then it turned into a sudden blizzard? Sometimes, it may even contain dangerous lightning and pellets?

I have experienced quickly moving snowshowers. Also, I happen to be in Michigan. I guess it's just the weather around here.

I live in New England and I have lived here my whole life and believe me I am no stranger to snow showers and blizzards. Yes, I have seen what you have described, but its not a blizzard. It is a little squall(spelling?). It lasts for about 5 minutes and has moderate wind, but doesn't really leave any snow on the ground. Anyone who lives where it snows alot knows that the sky has a weird cloudy white look to it. Not blue with white clouds, but like a blanket of greyish white. Thats when you say, Damn it looks like we're gonna get some more snow! And by the way, we're always warned ahead of time for blizzards. Blizzards don't just suddenly develope overhead, they are storms that head in your direction. They give you enough time to go get a few supplies for a couple of days. But believe me, I'll take my blizzards anyday over the big tornadoes the plaines and the south gets or the earthquakes that the west coast gets.Although it sucks when you're on the highway at night going pretty fast and suddenly you're hit with freezing rain.Thats when the rain turns to ice on contact. It feels like you're driving on a frozen pond.

Well where I live, in October Western NY had a surprise snow storm. It was snowing ligtly and then overnight the power went out and heavy snow fell, leaving schools closed, tree broken and tons of damage. It lasted a a short while, but things were closed and damage wasnt moved for a while.

yes, i believe last year during a minor snow storm the area i live in experienced "Thunder Snow" which is when weather typical of a thunder storm develops in a blizzard and drops massive ammounts of snow due to downdrafts.
