This is a very difficult question. I personally will not kill, to stand up to the fact that I live to bring glory to God, that I live to glorify God, I will not kill, neither shall I let him harm my wife(I don't have a wife yet though) and so then how do I do that? I shall not abandon my wife but instead I shall apologize to my wife at my usefulness and I want her to forgive me. My wife will understand what I do. This might be selfish but who is not selfish? I shall use the death of my wife to bring this man to his senses, I shall let him know that as a husband I have my responsibilities and people like him with no love in their lives have no use in living on this Earth, should you not think clearly now then you won't for the rest of your life, is it really so good being a person with no heart, no life, but only death, what fun is it, since when have you once smiled truthfully in your life. Should this man still not put down his gun I shall run up to my wife and grab her away and if he shoots then we both shall die, none of us will be sad at each others death and we will both be happily living in heaven. But the answer basically is not kill him.

It seems too easy for people to accept taking on the role of being a killer. It is probably because it so abstract and conceptual as a hypothetical.
I think the problem with questions like this one is that they presuppose only two options. Why is it not an option to put the gun to your head and say, "if she dies, I have no will to live"; thus forcing the man to accept killing two people.
Too many want to be the glamorized hero and shoot and kill the "bad" man. But again, is there not other alternatives; for example, shoot him to wound but not kill. By killing him, you save him the misery of going to trial and facing responsibility. His punishment is too swift, too quick, and he does not deserve such mercy. Thus, you should shoot him (in the leg or shoulder or gut), but only to save your wife. Not to kill. In such a case, you act with the least evil of intent given the situation.

In a situation like that you don't take a time out to think about philosophy....you kill the would be killer of your loved one and consult all the good books later. After the would be killer is killed I doubt very much that your conscience will cause you to lose sleep at night. And of course .....you do revere life, that's why you saved your wife's life......killers don't revere life at all.........

Kill the man. Here's why:
The man's motive to kill your wife is probably not a noble one. (Unless she was going to blow up a day care center or something.) Your motive to kill the man is noble and heroic.
In the end, you can keep the "good" person or the "bad" person. I'd keep the good.

Let's see. . .prevent a criminal from committing the ultimate crime against one you love, or saving the life of an innocent person, no matter how you feel about them? One way or another, a person is going to die--it should be the one who has an evil intent.

I think it's worse that you stand there thinking that question. If he shoots your wife he is going to shoot you too.

I believe it is worse to let your wife die because you will regret that forever. You may also regret killing the man, but at least you will have your wife there to comfort you.

I think it would be wrong to shoot the would be murderer because we can't really fix evil with evil. However I guess I'm just a hypocrit because I would empty the clip in his @$$.
