I have a 4.2 G.P.A. (taking AP courses allows you to get a GPA higher than 4.0) and I'm taking 6 AP courses. It's very time consuming. I don't go out like my friends do, I don't go to clubs and partys because I hardly have time because of all the homework I have to do. Now its summer time and I still have to work because my parents bought me 6 thick SAT books they want me to work through.

I'm just thinking of taking normal classes because they are less time consuming and require less preparation. I just wanna be able to go out and have more free time and I don't feel like working anymore. I could have so much more fun if I had more time.

What do you think I should do?

Are you a junior or a senior in high school? If you are you should just reduce a couple of your AP classes to honors, and keep the AP classes that are related to your intended major for college. I took AP classes and it can be stressful (esp. AP Macroeconomics=/).

My admiration goes out to you for the great marks you have in school. If you continue to get these grades there will not be any college that would refuse your admission.
However, I personally feel that giving you additional work like the Sat books could be detrimental to your health. It takes enormous energy to keep up a schedule that you chose. Ask your parents if the strain is too much for you at this time.Don't envy you friends their fun, they are not going anywhere, but you have the ability to go anywhere.

Honestly, (you probably don't want to hear this) but I think you should continue with your AP classes. I'm sure you've heard the speech of how important it is to do well on SAT's to get into the right college .... yada, yada, yada. So I won't go into that speech. I think the key is just being able to manage your school and personal life. I wish you luck!!! Everyone deserves a night out!

well, for starters, understand the difference between well and we'll. a bit of a silly mistake especially when you're claiming that you're pretty darn s-m-u-r-t.

everything worthwhile is worth fighting for. a lot of dedication and work is required to do well academically. if you don't see the point of statistically having a nicer job and be better off than some members of society, then maybe you should look at alternatives.

If you believe your local community college is just as good as Yale, go ahead, cut back...
