I love calculus. It's fascinating. If you like math, then you'll probably like calculus. If not, then it may be a nightmare. For suggestions, just make sure you know the concepts solid. If you make a few algebra mistakes on the AP exam but get the calculus right, you'll still get credit. Don't be afraid to go online and use resources to reinforce your understanding of some of these concepts, especially since the course is fast paced.

No.
It didn't scare me in the least, when I did the same thing you are doing now. I even had to go to a local college to take the class as a senior, because they didn't have the AP curriculum back then.
Calc 1 is not so hard. Some of the later calculus classes are a challenge, but not Calc. 1.
Do you remember y = mx+B?? 'm' is the slope of a straight line. What would be the slope of a curved line (at some point along the curve)? Calc 1 will show you how to do that.
Learning the concepts of derivative and integral calculus will actually change the way you look at the 'world'.

It was hard for me. I kept failing tests in AP calculus while I had gotten B's in other math classes and A's in all my English, history, and language classes. I got tutoring from my friends and asked the teacher for help. I thought about dropping the class at the semester, but my parents thought I should stick with it. I followed their advice, ended up with a B or C, got a 3 on the AP test, and didn't have to take calculus in college! It's tough for some and easy for others. The good thing about the AP test is you get partial credit for things you do right even if you get the overall question wrong, and generally speaking, taking a course in high school is easier than it is in college.
If you have been successful in advanced classes before, I'd say go for it! It'll be work, but it'll probably be harder if you wait until college.

I was a math major in college (although I eventually switched to computer science for my actual degree); I really enjoyed math, but it is something that you have to USE to make a living, of course. Calculus isn't really all that tough; as long as you are very consistent about doing your homework, you should be fine. At the first HINT that you don't understand something, start asking questions; don't allow yourself to get behind, and you'll do fine.

No calculus is just the beginning of more advanced math. Calculus is a foundation upon which to build the rest of your math skills. It comes in handy in helping to understand why certain formulas are the way they are and to help derive new and useful formulas, especially in physics.

I have always considered myself bad at math. However, I took Calculus in college and it wasn't bad at all. I had a great teacher.
I would encourage you to get a tutor and work with them weekly, even if you aren't having problems. And always come home and do homework! Dont put it off! :)
Goodluck!

Differential calculus I found easy.
Integral calculus drove me up the wall.

It can be, depends on your math ability. If you handled all the prerequisite classes well, you should do fine. Its important you learn the basic ideas very well, like derivatives and integrals, and the rest should come easy.
