I forget the exact number i think it was 22 years 288 days since Clemens last regular season relief appearance. That is the longest ever between appearances out of the pen. They gave the number on Sports Center this morning Im pretty sure that was it.

I don't think he holds the record for consecutive starts. There are still pitchers from the past, like Cy Young, who pitched many more games than Clemens has and I'm sure the record would belong to someone from that era. For players over the last 50 years, I would imagine Clemens is up there though someone like Nolan Ryan would probably still have him beat out.

Clemens has pitched in relief before -- once in 1984 as a rookie, once in the 2005 playoffs (he actually entered the game as a pinch hitter!), and a few times in All-Star Games.
