I recently watched a talk show with guests, one man and three women who are involved in a polygamous relationship. They all live in the same house with their children. The oldest 4 were with them on the show. Aside from their sexuall relationship (Thank God) they talked "frankly" about their life style but I couldn't help but note their body language. All three women sat together but didn't ever touch which makes a lie of the friendship they claimed. All 4 children (14 to 17 yrs old) said that they didn't see that lifestyle in their furture. Only 1 said that he wouldn't rule it out but at that time he didn't think he wanted to be involved in a polygamous relationship as an adult. Children see more than we think. Two of the women worked outside the home and their combined income allowed the man to make several career changes over the years. When he discussed this none of the women smilled as most women would who would be proud of their man's accomplishments and their contribution to them. I got the feeling that the only person enjoying the life style is the man, the women are now approaching middle age and are so vested in the relationship with children (7) and income that they are just waiting it out and paying lip service to his ideaology. In a one sided love affair no commitment has been made between the partisipants because the one loved doesn't want it and the lover has an oppurtunity to wake up, realize the futility of the relationship and move on even though there may be painful feelings initually. I don't think either situation is healthy but polygomay in the long run is more damaging.

The polygamous one is worse coz you are tied deeper into the relationship. A love affair cant really be one sided, But if you are describing one way love, Well it is much easier to get over that than the stress of living in a polygamous relationship. No worries, Sweetie... I'm a one woman guy. And that woman is you (-;

Polygamous. At least with a one-sided love affair you can delude yourself into believing you're special to the person and the only one. With a polygamous relationship it's pretty obvious you're not all that special and definitely not the only one.

A one-sided love affair is worse.

To re-phrase your question: how many lovers would you rather have: zero or many? Obviously, many is better than none.
