Just read the Sun-Times article. The Pale Hose are interested in P Clay Buchholtz, Michael Bowden, OF Jacob Ellsbury, and SS Jed Lowrie. All are top-notch minor league talent, early round draftees.

The Hanley trade didn't look good starting off, but I'll bet Red Sox fans are happy to see Josh Beckett emerge as a top-line starter.

It's a risk worth taking. Buehrle has the moxie to tough out games, and I think he's a good hedge against a long-term loss of Schilling. The best bets coming out of the minors right now are Jon Lester, Kason Gabbard, Devern Hansack, and Manny Delcarmen. Lester is a keeper, Delcarmen looks like an innings eater, and Gabbard and Hansack could be anyone's 5th starter.

It's scary to trade off another potential ROY candidate, but sometimes that's what it takes to get great talent. Denying the Yanks an arm that can beat them is not a bad motivation, either. After all, Yanks have done it before to their neighbors to the north.

He is a great first half pitcher so the Red Sox should avoid Buehrle. He has done great this year don't get me wrong but he is typically a first half pitcher. There are two other things that I would hate about this deal if it were to happen and one is that the Red Sox have some great prospects and the White Sox have said flat out they want prospects...I don't want to trade away another Hanley Ramirez. The other thing is that this might be a rent a player unless they are assured a long term deal before the trade happens. Buehrle is a free agent at the end of the season and this guy talks more about his love for the Cardinals than he does about the White Sox. Unless a team gets a long term deal with him before the season is over I would not be surprised to see him in St. Louis next year. In my opinion I don't think the Red Sox should make this move!

I live in the Chicago area and although it was reported the the Red Sox are the front runners at the moment, 2 other teams have surfaced and making it more interesting, namely the Milwaukee Brewers as they are looking to add a final piece or 2 to make a serious run this year and the St Louis Cardinals who desperately need pitching and Buehrle's desire to pitch for his hometown team...I would not be surprised at all if the Sox do a 'sign and trade' with the Cardinals especially if the Sox can get high prospects out of the Cardinals farm system. especially pitching prospects.

The Red Sox would be a good fit, but me thinks the Brewers and Cardinals are both flying under the radar and think Kenny Williams would rather send him to the NL instead of another AL team. We shall see!

I could actually see this happening. The Red Sox need a good left-hander to accomodate Beckett, Wakefield, Schilling, and Matsuzaka. Buerhle would be a good fit. I'd like to see them get rid of J.D. Drew and one of their pitching prospects.

I think it would be smart for them to get him for 2 reasons
-They're probly gonna need a pitcher soon because Tavarez isn't the pitcher that you want...hes a bullpen guy and Schilling and Wakefield are both getting old
-To keep him away from the Yankees. the Yankees need pitching bad and this would be great for them...the Red Sox don't want that. Thats why they paid so much to get rights to be the only team to deal with Dice-K to keep him out of NY. Pitching is NYs weakness right now...we need to keep it that way and exploit it

As a Braves fan, I would like to see him end up in Atlanta, but the White Sox are only wanting Jarrod Saltalamacchia (one of baseball's top prospects) in return, and we aren't willing to part ways with Salty.

So I'm thinking he will end up in Boston, and I also think it will happen before the week is over.

Sox would get him as insurance in case Schilling is on shelf, and to keep him from Yankees

I don't think the Red Sox need him, but then again, they'll do anything to keep a decent player off of the Yankees.

The Red Sox don't need him but the Yankees need him BAD so they probably just want to keep him away from NYY
