And does Tony Blair have a useful role as an envoy in bringing about such peace? The western backed Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas met with the Israeli PM in Egypt today. But at the same time Hamas proved they can still have a powerful effect on the process. They released a statement from the Israeli Corporal Gilad Shalit - the first since he was kidnapped exactly a year ago.

These people are fanatical. There will always be conflict out there. Until they have a Premier League to direct their energies at each week end there'll always be at war.

We should ask ourselves why The West didn't support President Abbas during the Palestinian crisis which was caused by the International community after the elections? Why they only supported him after Hamas captured Gaza and when Abbas captured the West Bank? What are we going to see now from the "peace process" they all talked about? Then we the whole world supported Abbas blindly while he violated the Palestinian constitution?
Tony Blair will do nothing useful. If Israel really wants the two- state solution then it would have enfoced international law and accepted to live with a Palestinian state in pre-1967 borders.

the people of Palestine ( which was there a long time before Israel ) had a democratic vote ( which is what the rest of the world want for the Iraqi's ) and the rest of the world say sorry but you voted the wrong way. That is not democracy that is bully boy tactics but every time Israel attack Palestine it appears that the rest of the world support them in there fight on terrorism not that the Palestinians are being terrorized .
If you look at North and south Cyprus its no wonder that the Cypriots do not want unity after the Turk's invaded and took there land . The same thing in Palestine when after a war some other nations re homed another nation on there land.
So until some one neutral sits them around a table and listen to both sides of the argument then very little will be done to stop the fighting . What a shame .

There will never be a peace between Israel and Palestinians. It's a false premise - a ruse.

"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct 'Palestinian people' to oppose Zionism."

Never, the Zionist machine wont ever stop hindering peace until the genocide on the Palestinians is completed,it's just a case of waiting for the Zionists to come up with a final solution, and i believe that will come a step closer when Blair is officially announced as a peace envoy.

You're having a laugh,Tony Blair the best envoy, now thats funny ,well it would be if people weren't dying. The best envoy would be one who has a genuine plan for peace,NOT AN ISRAELI/AMERICAN PUPPET.....perhaps you should stop commenting on this subject.Collect your 2 points from other topics, because you know nothing about this one.

Tony Blair will be best envoy there can be since he has such a high profile. But I really think peace is so far away and just today a Israeli official released information on how they see war this summer. Hamas is definitely trying to push to war along with Iran and Syria.

Unfortunately very far right now...With the things that happen in Gaza, with the "international community" forcing Palestinians to accept Fatah although they were not elected ,with Israel rejecting every single peace proposal ,yes, peace seems far away...
Blair won't bring anything new or useful to the peace talk, while Abbas is just a Western puppet who is not able to do anything for the Palestinians...
With Abbas there are going to be only talks,as usual, but not a clear solution for the Palestinian problem...So again,no real peace...

as long as Israel keeps refusing the two state with Jerusalem shared(Israel is easily walling off Arab East Jerusalem from the West economic business enterprise), to end killing Arab Palestinians, and to end stealing their land, there'll be no peace and in 2-3 years, the worldwide pays for it with WW III-no one WINS.Peace is possible, yet Israel would not want it until eventually she annexes the West economic business enterprise and Gaza strips.

Both do not want to give way. Even if there is " peace ", you find Muslims fighting Muslims like now between Hamas and Fatah.

Never it will happen. If US and West keep out of the area ,they will fight and finish.Perhaps Israel will finish Palestnians and thereafter peace. Then Muslim countries will finish Israel. Then Muslims will fight as Shias and Sunnis. There is no hope for peace in the area.
