You need about 3+ days to see San Francisco right. Stay in Union Square as it is central and the main restaurant and shopping area. You need to visit Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate park, Muir Woods National Park (you pass over the Golden gate bridge on the way there), Chinatown, and North Beach. You can stay in a four star hotel for a three star price in Union Square, try the Hilton or Hyatt as the are always running specials.

Los Angeles is huge, you need at least 4-5 days depending on what you want to do. I would stay closer to the beach than downtown. Las Vegas needs about 2 days, stay anywhere on the strip do not stay downtown. Orlando I wouldn't even go to, but you need 3 days there. Stay in the Park, not downtown. Washington is great, you need about 3-4 days there. Anywhere close to the White House works as that is where all the museums and national monuments are so you can walk to everything. Make sure you see the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, it's probably the best in the world. New York needs at least 5 days to see the right way. Stay midtown, somewhere around times square. Don't miss the trip to the Staute of Liberty (go early), and Ellis Island. See Ground Zero, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Natural History (one of the best in the world). I stayed in Toronto when I visited the falls and would recomend that except it's close to a 3 hour drive. Niagara Falls only needs a day, but be sure to take the "Maid of the Mist" boat tour to the falls as it's a "must do" thing.

San Fransisco - Union Station
Los Angeles - Near Lax depending upon your taste
Orlando - Try for a vacation home in Kissemme, FL about 5-10 miles from Disney Parks.
Niagara Falls - Try something in Toronto, which is about an hour or so from Niagara, you will be able to cover two places.
Washington DC - Try Baltimore, same two places in one shot.

For San Francisco, I would recommend three days. As far as hotel goes, I would recommend Cow Hollow Motor Inn & Suites. Funny name, but the rooms are newly remodeled and clean. Biggest attraction, outside of it being nearby tourist spots, is FREE parking, which is a rarity in the city!

I'd give it at least three days, so you don't feel rushed.

I'd stay near the Union Square area (stay north of Market) so you'd be close to transportation.
