Most colleges have a core curriculum of:
-basic math (most likely calculus)
-basic English writing
-intro English literature
-intro "hard" science (like physics or chemistry)
On top of that there may be school-specific intro requirements (my school had intro music appreciation and intro philosophy) plus your major requirements.

Most colleges will require you to take the same group of courses, regardless of your major. Typically what you'll find are the following:
- English
- Math (you may have to go as far as Calculus depending on your major)
- Introductory Chemistry
- Introductory Physics
- Social Science/Humanity requirements (your general History, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, etc. courses)
Many of these courses are things that you can get credit for before you even go to college...if your high school offers AP classes and you have the time and willingness to undertake them, go for it. Not only will you put yourself ahead in the game credit-wise, but it'll save you money overall.
The other option to consider would be to take them at a community college. You might hear some say that the material taught at a community college is sub-par compared to that at the college...don't buy it. I took a math course over a summer only to find that the same professor I would have had back at my university was the same one teaching at the community college!

It depends on the college and the program. Some have 'core' requirements that all students must meet. Others require several different freshman choices, often divided between the arts, sciences/math and social sciences. For some majors, you may have to take courses in related disciplines.
Check the calendars/catalogs on the colleges that interest you. They are likely on line.
