Hi

Just wondering if someone can explain this to me I have a e6420 core 2 duo at 2.13 GHz each, this has a 1066 FSB but when I look at the description in Vista system properties is says

6420 @ 2.13GHz 800MHz <---------- im assuming the 800 MHz is the FSB speed so whats wrong?

I have an ABIT AB9 pro motherboad

thanks

mm

Download this tool:http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php it will tell you what speed your processor and FSB are running at. If the results are abnormal, email or instant message me with results and we can look into it.

Your installed RAM is probably running at 800Mhz (since your motherboard can accept higher speed memory) and Vista may be reporting the speed rating of that RAM, rather than the system's FSB speed.

For a system running at stock speed (1066) all you need is 533Mhz RAM. Since the RAM is double data rate, 2x533 = 1066. Having 800Mhz RAM simply gives you some leeway for overclocking, if you chose to do so.

Of course it's possible that it's just a Vista bug- intending to show the FSB speed but reporting an incorrect value.
