Unfortunately I don't know much about computers, I can only tell you my experience. I too try to set up a wireless router (linksy) and had the exact same problem, I was ready to top myself.
So a paid for someone to come out and set it up for me. He removed the modem completely and plugged everything into the router. He then phoned up my internet supplier (talktalk) and got the necessary gateway numbers etc. He put these numbers in and hey presto, he got it working immediately.
No where in the instructions did it say to take the modem out, so perhaps you could try that. You could also phone up your internet supplier because apparently you have to get new numbers off them when setting up any wireless routers.
I hope the above helps you, and good luck.

what operating system are you using?
if xp and you are using the wireless zero config to connect which is the one built in winxp, usually when it is corrupted you may need to use another program to stop your wireless on the pc from getting disconnected.
you can use the program that came with your wireless adapter.
it may be a router issue if you have another wireless laptop or a pc hooked up to the router that is not able to surf the internet. you may also need to reconfigure the wireless in the belkin router.

A instantaneous modem router could be a instantaneous router/modem combination and a instantaneous router could purely be a router by potential of itself. in case you had severe-velocity cable internet you will choose a modem linked to a instantaneous router to get on line.

Make sure you have a modem. A modem is what gives you the connection and the router is optional: it allows wireless networking. Also, try calling customer service.

Go to control panel and check your network connection.
Or try the broadband set up wizard. Check that your settings are set for broadband and not dial up.

return it and get a new one. I believe that it is a faulty router.

Give up, and go back to using the ethernet cable before you go mad!
