I would have to say no. There is a rule called "Buyer Beware"
which means you buy at your own risk. You bought the book assuming it was for Summer B. You could've waited until class started then bought the book. It technically is not her fault that you decided to buy it and not wait it out. So my answer is nope! Kinda like buying a sweater you thought everyone else had and wanted to return it because it wasnt. Is it the stores fault?

Well, it would be nice if she did - BUT - it is ultimately your responsibility to find out which book the professor chose for the class, not hers.
As an ex-prof, I can tell you I OFTEN chose a different book than others who taught the same class, sometimes because a newer text was better, and sometimes because I knew that papers and exam answers for the other text were already in the frat house files....

You should have got a book list before buying.
Just because someone did the same class it doesn't mean the same books will automatically be used.
So sorry but you have no claim to your money back.

Never buy textbooks until you get the course requirements.
You can ask for your money back - whether she gives it back or not is up to her.
If she doesn't - go to the used bookstore near campus, sell it, and purchase the book you need.

No. I think you take it to a recycled reading bookstore and see what you can get in exchange. Better to keep the friend. HOWEVER. If you tell her what happened without making any demands, and she offers you your money back - then go ahead.
Hope it works out

talk to your friend again, she would have felt terribly sorry and ashamed selling you a wrong book unintentionally. Most probably she would return your money. No need to be antagonistic.

you messed up not her, it was your responsibility to know which book you would need. To assume the class would be the same was foolish, they rarely make classes similar for this very reason.....to sell more books.

You can ask, and she says no, well lesson learned. As it's a friend, I'd hope she'd do the decent thing and give you your money back.
