my girlfriend has been taking the depo shot for about 6-9 months now, and she was about due for a new shot on the 28th of this month, but she decided to get off it and start taking yasmin birth control. most of the time when she is about 1-2 weeks away from her next depo shot she will bleed and get cramps, but this time she has been having severe stomach cramps in her low abdominal area, and is still bleeding. the doctor gave her some vicadin and that was about it. so i was hoping maybe someone here would have a reasonable explanation for why this is happening to her?

There is something else going on. Doctor's don't normally give Vicodin for menstrual cramps. It's a pain reliever but not an anti inflammatory drug which is usually used for severe cramping. Is she telling you everything, I think there is alot more to this.

when i was on the depo shot and i didn't get my period anymore after my second shot. I didn't get cramping or anything. I didn't even get a period again for nearly 18 months after i went off the depo. To tell ya the truth I think something else is going on. You need to ask her. I know my doc wouldn't give me vicadin if i had cramps and bleeding. he would tell me to take 800 mg of motrin and lie down. You should talk to your girlfriend. good luck to you both

I would go back to the doctor or see another one since vicodin is not helping her.
