Hi Everyone,

I'm currently a community college student and I'm very interested in Art. In my spare time I paint watercolor and oil paintings. I'd like to make a living selling my paintings. I was thinking of selling them on "Ebay" or selling them at my own store of paintings. I'm not sure what paintings people are interested in or will buy. What kind of watercolor paintings or oil paintings would you buy? Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day.

Sincerely,
Erin Young

Personally, I love landscapes and beach scenes. I also like florals...I especially like hydrangeas.

Painting is a form of artistic expression. What you paint must be something you feel passion for.

I may be a fan of John Waterhouse, Monet, and Renoir, but if you don't have a muse or feel passion for water lilies, or people enjoying themselves at a sidewalk cafe it will do no good for you to paint those types of subjects.

I feel that a painting is the tiniest slice of life seen only through your eyes with a compelling need to capture it and express that brief moment.

Painting is passion of expression and passion of self.

Best of luck to you!

Paint the things you can and you like.If your paintings include your soul and personal feelings, be sure you will make a good living.
However, using painting as the sole income of your living will eventually lead you to paint things that others will like but they will not express you.

In general: you should always paint what YOU like. If you only go by what you think others like, you'll lose interest.
Stick with your personality and interests, you'll attract buyers with similar interests.

Portraiture is always popular. But if your strength is landscape, try focusing on local scenes.
