Firstly, Don't worry. Contact your doctor if you start to get any symptoms:
"The symptoms of TSS include sudden high fever, a faint feeling, watery diarrhea, headache, and muscle aches. If your child has these symptoms, it's important to call your child's doctor right away."
"Signs of TSS: Look for fever; rash (especially a rash that looks like sunburn); nausea and vomiting; watery diarrhea; confusion or other mental changes; and decreased urination. If your daughter uses tampons, ask her to tell you immediately if she notices any unusual vaginal discharge, especially if it smells strange or bad. Most of the time that will be due to other causes, but no matter the cause, it still rates evaluation. "
You can also call your doctor, and tell her what happened.
Remember: TSS is VERY rare, so chances are you will be fine. Just don't do it again!

There's nothing to be scared about unless you are having symptoms of an infection or toxic shock syndrome the best thing you did was hurry to take it out and clean yourself so unless you get weird symptoms. there should be an insert in your tampon box about TSS umm... If it was left in that long because you were asleep I would suggest you wear a pad to bed instead

Don't worry, it happens!
In this day and age, tampons are alot safer and Toxic Shock Syndrome is far less common.
If you get a headache, feel dizzy or ill, THEN go to the doctor; otherwise, you will be just fine.

You'll be okay. Just change ASAP (sounds like you did that) and make sure to see a doctor if you start to feel sick (fever, vomiting, etc.).
This should help: http://www.kidshealth.org/parent/infections/skin/toxic_shock.html

There may be nothing wrong, but see your GYN for a check up to make sure there isn't an infection there.
Good luck!
