Congress' numbers are down for one reason, and one reason only: they didn't stand up to Bush on a timeline for ending the war in Iraq. Ending that war is the #1 thing they were voted into office to do, and at their first opportunity, they blinked.

Bush might have looked like an idiot under his "Mission Accomplished" banner. But the banner stretched across today's Congress should read "Mission Abandoned."

And our two senatorial candidates for President, Obama and Clinton, both had the CHANCE to take the lead and end the war. Instead, they hid their vote and crept in to cast it at the last minute, when it was already a foregone conclusion.

The truth is, the Democrats WANT the war to continue - it's a very divisive political situation that they think they can use in 2008 to win the White House.

But they are risking too much, particularly the lives of American soldiers, on a political gambit that, if Americans are smart, will backfire.

So I say to Obama and Clinton - Prove to me that you are worthy to lead this nation. Prove it by fulfilling the promises that your party made in 2006. End the war. Bring the troops home.

Since you are a Bush supporter what this question probably means is you are bashing the Democrats in Congress. Well, I find two things wrong with that. One is the Dems barely have control of Congress, it is not like that have a 70% majority, so is it reasonable to suggest we are fed up with both sides? Is it also not reasonable to suggest that at least part of the reason for the low rating is becasue the Republicans continue to back an unpopular president?

You are correct. I heard Trent Lott say exactly that yesterday. He made sure he let us know how stupid we are, then he let us know that he has been "Doing this stuff" for 35 years. I guess we are stupid, because we keep re-electing people like him, Kennedy and a host of others, who harbor bad intentions for this Great Country. Time to change the Congress and start a grass roots campaign for term limits for congress, four years, no more than four years. This will cut down on the corruption and enforce the requirement that Congress work for the people, not special interest groups.
I am terribly upset that Lott said that about us average Americans, he is one arrogant SOB. Time for some changes!!

Who is the we you are talking about? Frankly i'm more concerned with the rating of Congress. After Jan 2009 Bush will be gone, but probably 90% of the Representatives and Sentors will be back.

There's thing called the Peter Principle that says everyone rises to their level of incompetance. Near as I can figure it about 90% of Congress are at their limit.

Vote Anti-incumbent. They replacement may not be any better, but they won't know how to mess things up for a couple of years.

Do you feel a Democratic controlling congress is worthy of any praise, if Americans have lost their trust in their President.
By aiding Bush down this path they also must take the heat.
Also, this is a plus for Bush, and republicans, showing the American public how weak their Democratic Leaders are.

How about we stop arguing over the government and realize both parties have made a ton of mistakes and are both failures right now?
