I don;t think the Goons is bad, but I would be more intrigued by something like the Rabble Rousers.

I would not use "The Goons" as they were a legendary comedy act from the 1950s and 1960s who influenced Monty
Python.

A group called Shamrock has already had a hit record in the UK, so that name is gone.
Why not call yourself " 1966" or "1966 or Something"
Just had another thought
" ROUTE 66"
U.S. Route 66, (also known as Route 66, The Main Street of America, The Mother Road

The Goons makes you sound like you're a bunch of idiots. I like The Shamrocks better.

The Goons is alright, but it's not that... special. Maybe use a song title or something from the 60's. The White Rabbits, anyone? Or, The Magical Mystery Tour, Travelin' Band, Break on Through...

Goons makes your band sound very young and immature. I would keep thinking. Try a name that reflects something all the members have in common. Do the first letters of your names make a word?

DON'T USE MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR!!! It's WAY too obvious that it's the beatles. just look at band names from the 60's and pull out words you like then combine them to create your band name.
I don't like Shamrocks either. Persoanlly, if i saw a band names the shamrocks, i would not be interested. it doesnt sound serious.
