Everything thing you do to her tonight, I will be doing to YOU when you drop her off.

The simplest thing is the truth.

Have the father take the young man aside.

Then explain that he, the father, knows exactly what the young man is thinking. Exactly what he is thinking.

The father expects the man to treat his daughter with respect and to protect her. Understanding at the same time that young people will some very stupid things.

But if the young man is not abusive, is caring, and brings the daughter home at a reasonable time, the father will stand up for him.

If not, the full force of the fathers wrath will come down on him. And I can't think of anything worse in this world than a fathers wrath.

Then, of course the father will return to the house, probably chew a thumb off and bash his head against the wall.

Daughters can make the strongest man weak.

Ever seen the inside of a psycho ward, boy? It ain't like they show in the movies. I got out 'cause I convinced the docs I'm no harm to anybody but those that fool with my daughter. Don't make me go back there.

Do you know if you put a three-inch blade through the belly of a boy that can't keep his hands to himself, he can survive it if he don't touch the knife 'til he gets to the ER?

You didn't pay a whole lot for that car out there, did you? Because if I hear anything that makes me mad, someone is gonna come out of school to find my opinion scratched in his paint job for the whole school to see....

LMAO that is a good line but truth be told if you try to scare the crap out of her dates you will only end up pushing her away and losing her trust.Best bet is to play nice, the more you like him and think he is a great guy the more info you can obtain about what is going on between them.Good Luck;)

My favorite was from the old show 'My Two Dads' One of their daughter's male friends came over to take her on her first date. The two dads talked to the boy, one of them telling the boy that he remembers the first time he took a girl on a date and meeting her father. The kid asked the dad 'What did her dad say?' He replied back "Damn! I'm out of bullets."

My brother's last girlfriend's dad (whew, that was mouthful) took great care to show him his gun collection the first time he visted their house. I'm not sure if it ultimately worked *ahem*, but it seemed to have left an impression on him.

I think "so, our little Ivy is really standing up to the HIV, isn't she? you can hardly tell!" would probably be excruciatingly effective however. Assuming she ever speaks to you again.

You're going to love this!
My husband, who is on the SWAT team, didn't like this kid that was dating our daughter so one day when we knew he was coming over, my husband got out all of his tactical gear and sat on the floor with his machine gun and cleaned it with the kid in the same room. As he sat there he told the kid that our daughter was precious to us and then proceeded to grill him on his "dating standards". He even went so far as to make sure the kid understood that sex was out of the question! The poor kid was scared spit-less and the relationship didn't last long!

I'll take directly from her father's arsenal:

"No matter how old she gets, that's my baby; if you make her cry, I will HURT you...really BAD"

"If you ever lay a hand on my daughter, you had better be prepared to marry her, give her a house, and take care of her, for life. If you're not, start walking now"
