Imagine, everyone so far thinks here in the US of Footbol as Soccer right?
Well, what if all of a sudden it's not called soccer anymore. What if suddenly like overnight, the commercials started coming out with Nike or Adidas saying, Are you ready for This?
WORLD FUTBOL is here in America!

Yes, World Futbol, not Amercan football. People would be like what?

Specially since Beckham is coming, imagine the commotion this would create. If the MLS or US soccer organization wanted to make a change, I believe this would be the perfect timing. Specially with such a huge name coming to town, such as Beckham.

What's your opinion?

I would have to agree on the name change, there is not enough soccer (futbol in the regular world) in this country, baseball is a weak sport, and so is golf, but they have it on tv non stop. SOCCER IS THE WORLDS #1 SPORT, why dont we show a little love for the people who actually watch it. I'm not hating on football or baseball, or golf for that matter, they are all fun to play, but seems like the US needs more variety.
P.S. Beckham sucks cuz he sold out to the U.S.

that would be a good idea, but i still think people would say it's gay and boring, but let me tell you the most boring sport in the world is baseball, unless it's one of those 10+ run games, i end up falling asleep before the 5th inning, but watching soccer always keeps me on the edge of my seat, from the kick-off to the final whistle, it keeps me from falling asleep, and another thing, 85% or more of professional baseball players are on steroids, and some of those same people are kids heroes??? and you never hear soccer players getting convicted like players in the nfl, (pacman jones, half the cincinati bengals) so i think soccer players set a good example for the rest of the world compared to other athletes in other sports. and as far as it being gay, well there are nfl and nba players who have come out of the closet, but almost every soccer player i know has a hot-@$$ wife or girlfriend, so think about that

I think it would probably backfire. Using a Spanish world for the game would make it seem more alien to many potential fans.

With beckham coming i t would be a good idea but most americans are afraid of spanish or foriegn words (what xenophobes) and it would prob. just freak them out.
