I seriously doubt if the guy who asked this or the answerer he picked has done a whole lot for our country.

What is still liberal about JFK's Peace Corp, for example, is that it does not say "screw those dark-skinned people in the third world" as has been popular with many conservatives, and seems to be getting more popular among conservatives by the day.

Well, I was in High School when JFK was President
but enlisted in the Army in 1966 (notice I said enlisted
not drafted) this was under the LBJ administration and the
heat of the Vietnam war.

I willingly pay my taxes, last year I paid well over $35,000
in taxes and expect to pay near the same amount again this
year and will do so willingly.

And yes I am a conservative.

Conservatives are too busy trying to earn a living than to join the Peace Corps or Americorp. I think you will find that a lot of the people who have joined these organization were kids being underwritten by their parents or, in the case of Americorps, older people who have retired.

As far as the military, I believe a fair share of conservative have done their duty and time----thank you very much.

Lets see the vast majority of the troops in Iraq voted for Bush while there.

Conservatives give more of their own time and money in helping the poor than liberals.

Considering also the rich pay for the majority of taxes.

I say conservatives are doing all and more.

So what is your beef?

Hey, I enlisted, served twelve years and pay my taxes. What more can they ask!

Sounds like a fascist ideal, to me - when you consider that when a politician speaks of 'your country' he's really talking about your government.

A lot more than the liberals since they seem to always talk about "spreading the wealth" etc. Why earn it when Uncle Sam will give it to ya.
