Acres are measured in square units.
Miles are measure in linear units ( feet, yards, etc).
Thus they cannot be equated.

acres are measured by area while miles are linear. therefore you have ask either how many square miles in an acre or how many miles long would 44 one acre plots be if put in a row

Acres is a measurement of area, miles is a measure of length so your question makes no sense.

40 acres = 1/16 of a Square mile

an acre is an area measure.
a mile is a distance measure.
so acreage = square miles.

1 square mile = 640 acres.
so...
.06875 square miles = 44 acres.
