New York, all the way!! It's magic, it's alive, it's beautiful, ugly, sweet, sour, big, but like a village, and endless.

I'd give 2nd place to New Orleans,
3rd place to Chicago, and
4th to San Francisco

Like others NYC and SF, but for different reasons. SF you need to know someone there to see the city as the tourist spots are pretty uninteresting, exception being GG bridge. And part of the appeal of SF is what is around it, e.g. wine country, Yosemite (4.5 hours so not that close). The food is great, it is quite beautiful if you get out of downtown and the Union square area, the castro is pretty unique if you are not homophobic and overall it has a great variety of things to see and do.

NYC (I grew up there) is a true city with a lot of intensity, a wide range of people and very much a city does not sleep feel. Although places like Londaon and Shangahia can give it a run for its money, it is the archetype for the large city. Lots to do, museums, shopping, sights.

I don't know if it's possible to claim which city is the "most" interesting because it is so subjective to what holds your interest. All metropolitan cities have great food and history. Here are the usual suspects-
New York
San Francisco
Chicago and....
Washington DC
Las Vegas(You could make a pretty good arguement for this city...)
