6x+3=3x-12
isolate the x to one side of the equation by subtracting 3x from both sides
6x-3x+3=-12
combine like terms
3x+3=-12
subtract 3 to get the 3x by itself
3x=-12-3
combine like terms
3x=-15
divide both sides by 3
x=-5

Well, take 3 from -12, which is -15.
Then take 3x from 6x, which is 3x.
Divide 3x by -15 and see what you get.

6x + 3 = 3x - 12

1st> Subtract 3x from both sides of =
6x - 3x + 3 = 3x -12 - 3x
which becomes: 3x + 3 = -12

2nd> Subtract 3 from both sides of =
3x +3 - 3 = -12 - 3
which becomes: 3x = -15

3rd> Divide both sides by 3 to get x by itself:
3/3 * x = -15 / 3
which becomes 1 * x = -5 or x = -5.

6x + 3 = 3x - 12
6x - 3x = -12 - 3
3x = -15
x = -15 / 3
x = -5

Proof:
(6 * [-5]) + 3 = (3 * [-5]) - 12
-30 + 3 = -15 -12
-27 = - 27

2007-06-25 05:59:45 · answer #5 · answered by Jun Agruda 7 · 2 1

Subtract 3x from both sides to get
3x+3=-12

Subtract 3 from both sides to get

3x=-15

Divide -15 by 3

x=-15/3 = -5

x=-5

Step 1. subtract 3x from 6x and subtract 3 from -12.
6x+3=3x-12

6x = -12
-3x -3

U will get....

3x = -15

Step 2. divide 3 from both sides

3x = -15
__ __
3 3

u will be left with

x = - 5
