If you play center, dont get mad when the QB sticks his thumb in your ***. You will get called for movement if you flinch

Well, there's two arguments that come from this. First of all, are you of a proper size to take a hit, if you get tackled? Every player, gets hit in football, some can take it, some can't.
The second argument, is which position you'd want to take, and will it affect anyone else's desire to play? Some might cite bias, but it's a question, if say, a person is trying to replace a three year starter QB, vs say, a lineman who can't stop a sneeze, it may be a perfect time for you to step into the line.
From personal experience, I had the joy of punishing my local football team for not wanting me around, during team sports, our class had the Varsity QB playing out the string...and by the time i was done playing against him, his shirt was streaked with green, he spent most of 2 weeks looking up at the clouds, wondering who was missing assignments.
The argument, was that I was too slow, too fat, or bad eyesight....but give me a chance, and you make your mark.
Go out for the team, let us know how you do.

When I was a freshman back in high school, my twin sister played on my frosh football team. She was small, 5 foot nothing, and a feather in the wind could push her around.

I spent all of our practices trying to protect her from massive hits. It seemed that the guys wanted to send her a message that it is a rough game. When she tried to make a tackle, she would hang on until someone else could assist with the tackle.

If you have older brothers that you flog all the time, and aren't afraid of getting hurt, I say Go For It!

There was also another girl on the team who had asthma, and she just suited up. I think her ambition stemmed from my sister's football days in middle school, to encourage her to try as a freshman also. Neither played football after that.

Good luck!

As a person who as had the honor of coaching little league and middle school football teams I feel that it is important for you to look at your participation in such a physically demanding sport realistically. Nothing is as valuable to a person then their health and so you need to look at your limitations as a athlete honestly to see if it is something that you can do safely. Not everyone, boys included, is mentally and physically capable of playing this sport and many get injured because they do not understand that training and getting in satisfactory shape in the off season is extremely important. Don't get me wrong, I believe that girls can and should participate in any sport they wish to choose but you realistically have to understand that at your age the difference is physical strength, aggression, power between boys and girls is real. I have known several girls who have played both little league, middle school and high school football in our community and they did very well and had fun doing it. It took them a while to win the respect of their male counterparts and it wasn't easy but they understood that there ARE some physical differences that have to be taken into consideration and that there was going to be some prejudice from some of the boys. Also, knowing and preparing for the position you plan on playing or trying out for makes a tremendous difference. I feel that if you are serious you would benefit by talking to one of the coaches of the team, your parents, your friends and a brother, if you have one, as well as a past or present player to get a well rounded prospective of what you are striving for in order to give you the necessary amount of information so that you can make the best decision for yourself. Good Luck.

I think it isnt such a great idea, but their are a bunch of all-girl flag football leagues becoming popular especially in florida look around in your area for an all-girl flag football league less contact will mean less injuries and if you go out for your high school team youll likely be a kicker or a bench player sorry men are just bigger and stronger than woman

I know in the state of florida they have a flag football varsity team throughout the state. I think your diabetes can be handled but your diet and physical activity are going to need changes to prepare. Its your first year and most freshmen are just getting they're feet wet. Just have fun and remind yourself that there is going to be alot of work at your end but it will be worth it. You'll earn the respect of many but most of yourself.

I think girls shouldnt. They have the right to, but I think having a girl on an almost all guys contact sports team just seems weird to me. I mean guys arent gonna want to hurt you or hit you, so it would be hard.

Is your diabetes under control enough to be able to withstand the physical stresses and challenges of the turnouts and games? If so, and you have a passion to do this, go for it!
