I have been reading about the dry cleaners in Washington DC who were sued by a judge for losing a pair of pants I think that is absolutely ridiculous I am so glad that the court judge threw out the case and told the Judge he would have to pay their court costs and legal expenses. These moved to America in search of a better life in stead it became a night mare I feel sorry for these people. Can anyone tell me can they counter sue? I got a feeling that this won't go away I think the Judge will take this further up to the supreme courts. I mean the pants were part of a suit which only cost a $1000 Dollars or something not $67 million Dollar that would make those the most expensive pants in history.

Hint: The Judge has a bad, bad past record of doing this. Its not about the pants, its about individuals like him harassing tax payers. Oh and the Cleaner owner is a legal immigrant... that explains a lot why this whole thing happen. You think racism and xenophobia does not exist?

The judge ruled that the dry cleaners did not violate anything by having "satisfaction guaranteed" on a sign. She ruled that a business has to make a good faith effort to recompense someone for a fair value. It was a $1500 suit and at one point there offered him $10,000. Plus she ruled that he was unable to prove that the found pants were not his.

Apparently there will later be a motion to be considered by the judge ruling that he pay the cleaners legal costs. Plus they can sue him for loss of business (plus future loss), costs associated with time dealing with all of this, emotional distress etc.etc. And this does not even cover if they lodge a suit in a civil case. This could actually turn out to be the best thing that ever happened to the cleaners.

Sure this guy is going to push it further. Obviously he has nothing better to do. But the supreme court can decide wether a case has merit and choose not to hear it. But he has to push it......... he can be removed from his post because of inabilty to do his job as when he hears cases he is "that guy", even though he does administrative stuff. Any decision that is appealed could be overturned because of doubts of his stability, media attention and having time to sue dry cleaners. He probably can not get fired as long as he has pending litigation.

Sure the guy with the pants is mental. But you know the dry cleaners did offer to buy him a new suit at the get go. Then they called and said that they found them and refused to pay. Its not a reason for all of this but they should have just paid.

Who'd ever think a JUDGE would take a crack at filing an abusive Civil Court lawsuit??? Race is NOT an issue here--COMMON SENSE and FAIRNESS is. The ruling was way too light: I'd make an embarrassing example of this idiot judge.

Look for agreed sentiments "Enough of these abusive Civil Court lawsuits" to resonate in our court-rooms rather fast, nation wide. This particular case is HISTORICALLY LANDMARK more so than anyone realizes right now.

And I woudn't be surprised if an investigation into the plantiff's finances reveals he is in the debt hole for $50 or so million dollars. Hey: he had to try a way out of debt, right?

It's the power of blind justice with one eye open.
The honorable Judge decided for himself to eliminated the poor guy at the dry cleaners.
It is a great decision that his colleagues did not support his claim.
It usually happens otherwise.
