unfortunately they are targeting the caucasion demographic as that is who has the most money as a group. this makes things attractive to advertisers, who are also predominately male and caucasion. sad though, isn't it.

Why aren't there more shows in Mexico and Central and South America with caucasian actors and actresses on them? Why are all of the shows down there predominantly (actually 100% except for cartoons) Hispanic?

Why aren't there more caucasian actors and actresses on TV in Asia?

As America's demographic changes, the faces on TV will change. However, JMT is right about advertisers and the relationship between what's on TV and what the likely audience is. As African Americans, Hispanics, and Asian Americans become wealthier (as groups, not as individuals, since there are a large # of wealthy blacks, asians, and hispanics) you will see the TV demographics change.

Unfortunately, most of the Middle United States is still predominantly white. Even though most of the large cities on both coasts have the largest populations per capita, white middle United States is still a huge consumer and voting block (hence a Republican president with or without the Florida mess).
The highest grossing actors and actors in Hollywood - that's highest grossing as in the ones whose movies earn billions, not the highest-paid actors - are all Caucasian. We love Morgan Freeman, but his movies earn nowhere near the same amount of money as Bruce Willis.
Hollywood producers milk the cash cow as long as it keeps producing money. Hence the 'Die Hard' movie number four, three sequels in one summer (Spider-Man, Ocean's 13, Harry Potter, etc.) Julia Roberts is the most sought after actress in Hollywood because fans love her and pay money for her movies.
A lot of people in white Middle United States still have trouble accepting the inter-racial love thing, and refuse to pay money for it. They also have the loudest voice in surveys and politics.
And unfortunately, blonde-haired blue eyed girls at any age are still the top grossing in advertising. Like it or not, Farrah Fawcett, Cheryl Tiegs, Elle MacPherson, Heather Locklear, and now Reese Witherspoon brought in lots and lots of dollars. Jennifer Aniston as a blonde brought in big bucks. Britney Spears - don't get me started on Britney Spears. Madonna stayed a blonde. Huge money. We love her dearly, but Tyra Banks is not in the same money-earning attention-getting stratosphere as dear Britney.
When a person like Vivica A. Fox, who is absolutely gorgeous, sexy, and funny to boot, starts bringing in cash by the shipload like dear Britney (puke), Hollywood will follow suit.
That's just the way it is.

I believe JMT is right though i think they are slowly getting better. You see shows now with other races here and there sporadically . Though I think it is very fake when they have a show say with 4 lead girls and one is white, one is african american, one is asian, and one is latin. (Or other combinations) I think that is trying to hard to accommodate everyone.

Many latinos and middle-eastern people are classified as caucasion on paper, but in person Americans would differ.

I don't think whites are 70% or more anymore. Many Latinos, Iranis, and some East Indians classify themselves as white.
