It's cos we're used to hearing our voice from the inside so when we hear it recorded it usually sounds higher pitched & it's such a shock!

I would appear to have no chin and a very deep voice.
The voice I can handle, but where's my chin?

First time I heard my voice, I got a bit of a shock. It didn't sound at all like I thought it did but got used to it after being recorded many times. First time I saw myself on video I was pretty pleased at how I looked. I didn't realise my face was so full of expression.

Its weird. your voice sounds different because its not echoed through your head, its out in the open. Looking at yourself can be weired too, when you see yourself in the mirror you see a reversed image. When you look at yourself on television you tend to see the reversed image of your self but infact is the real you that everyone else see's. The best way to overcome this is not to be so vain. LOL

Yes, voice was good, but the body- too fat, the face cheerful and passable, wouldn't cause too many to throw up.
Quite a shock, much more than looking in any full length mirror when trying on a new suit.

My voice was higher than I thought, and my accent worse than I'd thought. (Mid-western) I think I sound like Betty Boop with a West Virginia accent. (I'm not WVan, though.) And on video, I'm much heavier.
However, I love saying funny things on the answering machine so I got used to it.

Whenever I hear Welsh people on t.v - like on Jeremy Kyle occasionally, I always think "Do we really sound as bad as that?"
After hearing my own voice on a tape recorder I can honestly say "Yes we do" and it's awful.

i was on 15-1 about 10 years ago and only watched the recording once from behind a door.i was appalled both by my voice and the strange nervous tics i seemed to develop.

I heard my voice on a tape and sounded like Minnie Mouse, I was mortified & my sister filmed me on her phone and I looked really big so again, I was mortified.

My voice sounds so crap on a recording, I sound really child-like and also my Geordie accent is so much broader then I thought.

I think I sounded like a freak, its just weird to hear it! I pronounced words totally different then I thought
