I would say yes also. People try to, well most do try and help people out with the questions they ask. They take the time to look at and answer and the questions. The people posting the question should take the time to in a way to say thanks by choosing a best answer

No, because if you do not choose an answer, then it will go into a vote. And anyone can vote on the best answer. So the voters will choose the best answer and close out the question.

I think you are indirectly referring to a situation where you find that non of the answers meet with your choice, to be termed as the best answer. It is normal and happens quite often. In such a situation it would be prudent to select an answer which is nearest to our expectation.Since you only Know this,it's OK with you.You may re frame the question and post it again later.By doing so we shall allow the process to continue and also try to find the answer to our question at a later date. After all life is, GIVE some and TAKE some.

It's like recycling. There are tons of unresolved questions that just sit there until voted on and not everyone takes the time to vote. It would be great if everyone picked the best answer to their own questions. Most people answer a question within a half hour and after four hours you can pick. It would be nice if you did.

No. Sometimes you just don't know and the answers don't seem answer exactly what you had in mind. So, you let the question go to vote as to which answer seems to best answer the question and in the process sharping you sense of what you actually, unknowingly asked. This allows you to better re-state your question in a form that may bring the subject the kind of attention it deserves.

No not at all but if there is an answer that you really like or if you think the answer has a lot of thought/detail, you should choose a best answer.

Lol. Well, I sometimes choose a best answer. I try to, but I sometimes forget... I don't consider it to be rude necessarily, because if you don't choose one, it is voted on... so one way or the other, a best answer is chosen... not a big deal in my book, really.

I don't know if it's rude but it's pretty obnoxious. I've seen a lot of 'best' answers chosen by voters that are the crappiest, nonsensical answers but the managed to get their buddies or multiple log-ins to vote for them.

Yes because it is always nice to give one person the extra points, plus if other people are using your question and answer for an actual reference it would be easier to look at the best answer rather than scrolling thru all the other ones.
