it means that they are still pissed that mexico lost the mexican-american war in the 1840's...through this conflict, the united states 'acquired' new mexico, california, arizona and of course, texas...the mexicans badly want these lands back and because they cannot win militarily, they will try to retake them through illegal immigration...i'd say they are doing a pretty good job of that...

I have an even better question. When was Georgia or Alabama a part of Mexico? If I remember my history, and I do...Georgia and part of Alabama were English territories...so that argument only applies to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California...which we won in a war and bought...so if the border crossed them why are there so many in the South East?
Deport them all and jail employeers!

As a result of the Mexican-American war of 1848, The US took half of Mexico as the spoils of war this land mass included the present states of Texas, New Mexico , Arizona., California, Nevada , Utah, Colorado and part of Wyoming. The Mexican population that lived in thoses states were now part of the United States and if they did choose to leave their land/ homes in one year they were considered Americans. They did not come to America by choice, they were forced to be Americans as the results of war.

The people who say this believe that this was part of Mexico and are part of La Raza or want the reconquest of Aztlan.
However if you ask the Native Americans they will tell you that mexicans were not on this side of the border because the Apache and Navajo tribes controlled this area before Americans and not the Mexicans.
Personally I believe the Native Americans and there is historical evidence to back up their claims.

Texas has nothing to do with it... it is figurative..America's inundation of culture and social and financial influences "crossed" the border and impacted there economy, living standards, ideology, expectations, sociology, government, infrastructure,..every thing..!!!
There is no other culture in human history that has so suddenly and wholly impacted the worlds sociological or cultural stabilitys, as has america.
The statement is an intendry.
It is an invitation to ''consider", is all.

If you're refering to the Texas - Mexico border...then that just means that Texas was once part of Mexico...so when we acquired Texas the U.S. border extended south.

After the Mexican-American War, there were Mexican nationals still living in Texas, California, etc. Thier descendents are American citizens, yet they never really immigrated from Mexico to the USA.
It's really only valid when aplied in an historical context to that generation who found thier land going from Mexican soil to American soil.
Today, it doesn't really aply. It would be like an African-American calling himself a 'freed slave,' or like calling yourself a 'veteran' because my great-grandfather served in WWI.

ive never heard this phrase before, but it sounds like a play on the word "cross" (or a pun, if you will). The first cross being literal, the second being figurative. Meaning we didnt walk over the border, the border made us mad.

Their ancestors were living and working in Mexico. They learned the language. They participated in te society and assimilated with cultural norms.
Then one day they woke up and found out they were outsiders. They were not represented in government. They were not even allowed to enter the capitol.
