It the same with subway franchises, concession stands, dunkin donuts and convenience store for Indians.

One person works in another person's store in exchange for experience and knowledge and then opens up his/her store and hires another person/people from his native country. This keeps repeating until you see what seems to be a particular minority group that is dominate in a particular service industry. They hire others Korean because they share the same language and culture.

No it does not require importing products from Korea. It is just after working in a dry cleaning store or beauty salon, the new immigrant searches for a similar business and the new immigrant hire more recent immigrant and the process keeps repeating.

It is knowledge passed from one person to the next person.

Italians and Greeks seem to own all the fruit store.

They just opened a business where apparently it was needed. When I was a kid their were more Chinese doing this but I also think these groups are more willing to work in the service industries and have traditionally done so even in the US.

Far as I know nothing is required to be imported from Korea and in my town the dry cleaners are Americans.

It's hard for others to compete against the Koreans for the simple fact, they get the merchandise cheaper and can sell them for cheaper as opposed to a non Korean buying merchandise from there at a higher price. I think moderation needs to be done in order for others to be able to compete.

No, because people who come over here find some business that are not popular, so their isn't much competition and they start a business, and soon dominate it because of lack of competition. It's smart business.
