Hugo Sanchez stated "sometimes the better team does not win" after the US won the Gold Cup yesterday. This statement is typical after every game in which the Mexicans are beaten by the Stars and Stripes. What gives?

Check the records and recent history - Mexico has one major defeat over the US this century!!!

For "who cares" - recent World Cup? Again the Mexicans conveniently leave out the fact that we eliminated them from the 2002 World Cup.

To legitimately make the claim that Mexico is a better team than the U.S. Mexico must defeat the U.S. on the soccer field consistently. Results over the last ten years seem to suggest otherwise. Overall I would say the Mexican team seems to keep there shape better and makes more controlled passes while the U.S. has a clear advantage in speed and fitness. This, it seems, is enough to tip the balance in America's favor.

If soccer continues to grow in popularity in this country as it has since the 90s Americas advantage will only continue to grow in the future. Indeed, you may see the day when Mexico is regarded as Americas poor cousin in CONCACAF. Sorry, about the last remark, we just won the Gold Cup and that gives us bragging rights :-).

The US does own Mexico IN THE US, but they can not do nothing in Mexico. I have to give the US props because they know how to play Mexico with their speed and counterattacking. Im Mexican and I do not like Hugo. I actually like that he is not doing good as a coach because he criticized Lavolpe so much and look at him now. The US needs to come to Mexico and beat them there, just like Mexico needs to beat the US here. The US can say they own Mexico in the US, but Mexicans can say we won the US in Mexico. In recent WC's Mexico has shown more than the US, but the US has played better in friendlies. What is this I here about the US not taking a good team to Copa America. I understand they want to give the young players a chance, but over half will not even go to the WC. The US will not get any respect until they start winning games outside of the US. This is the time to show people you can play soccer. If the US declares themselves the Giant of the CONCACAF, then you have to represent.

Being honest and not biased at all Mexico did play better than the United States. I mean seriously Hugo Sanchez has a point "sometimes the better team does not win". After Mexico lost to the USA last time 2-0 I admitted US was the better team but this time Mexico played better and nobody is going to make me change my mind
