If they actually did "work," there would be write-ups in all the major scientific journals, and someone would have won the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge from the James Randi Educational Foundation.

Today, my friend and I found her ouija board. I've always been interested in one. We were with 2 other friends but they were afraid that something bad would happen. So me and my friend went into the kitchen by ourselves. We sat down and had the board balanced equally on our laps. We asked many times for about 10 minutes if anyone was with us. Nothing happened. So we decided to go downstairs and try for about 20 min. Nothing happened. Then we finally got our 2 other friends to join. We went into my first friend's bed room. We all sat down on the floor with the board on a flat stool. We asked if anyone was there, it seemed like the handle was moving slowly. After about 3 or 4 minutes, it was over the YES. We contacted the spirit for over an hour. It ended up being my first friend's grandpa. It was a good experience but honestly, I'm too scared to try it again. We are all freaking out. Please be careful if you do try it. Never ask anything too personal or for the spirit to move an object.

I believe they work. Many people believe that they seem to work, only as a result of the subconsious mind causing your hand to move the palette. However, that can't explain it when the ouija board gives one the answer to a question that nobody participating could have known.
For instance, I once asked one who my best friend was. It didn't tell me my current bff, but it told me a future one. I didn't know the girl at the time, and her name is one that I'd never seen spelled in such a way before. One could argue that it was some sort of coincidence, true, but I don't believe in coincidences anyway.
I've not used a ouija board for several years now, however. Not because I don't want to, but I don't have one- my mum thinks that they're evil and shouldn't be used.
Supposedly, they work because spirits control the board. Many people think that these spirits are all evil, "demons", or that it's just plain bad luck to use one. Others, myself included, think that different types of spirits have access to controlling the board, and not all are bad. However, it's impossible to know what type of spirits it is that you are contacting, as many spirits may lie about who or what they are. Ouija boards can be very dangerous and shouldn't be used as a game.

Yes they do work, Some on purpose some by accident... But either way all that they can do is bring in the very dangerous demons(fallen angels) into your homes... And there is no such thing as a mild mannered demon...... Here is another fact man-kind thinks that they can control the demons that come into their presence. But they really can't and they are the ones that wind up under the control of that demon.... The reason that there is not a lot of write up's about the Ouija Board is because the powers that be know just how dangerous they can be.. And if you tell someone not to do something they will go right a head and do it thus putting themselves and others into great danger... So by not allowing big write up's does have it saving effect.... Do yourself a favor and destroy that Board so that if others find it can't use it.... Also there are a lot of people that never checks Goverment file through the freedom of information act... It will suprise many people about just how dangerous our Government thinks the Ouija Boards really are.................................................

You may not believe me or you will say i'm ignorant. But read my answer, it is the absolute truth.
I was with my Mom and my Aunt. It was during the holidays. I was about 12 or so. We started messing around with it. I don't remember all of the questions, but I still remember two of them quite clearly. We asked what town in Eastern Europe my Dad had been born in. And we asked what town in Eastern Europe my Grandparents were from. Nobody knew the answers. We wrote them down and later confirmed they were both correct (within 1-2 letters of correct spelling). Neither my Mom or my Aunt would have tried to mess with me - that wasn't their character. I could literally feel it move by itself. We were all so freaked out we decided to never use it again. This is true, and to this day, 40 years later, I would never use one!

It's debatable. Some people say the board was moved by the spirits and others say picturing what you want to happen (the board moving) can make you make it happen subconsiously. The board has been used to "communicate" with the dead in Murder Trials, and a woman who had no literary talent at all was said to have been fed novels and poems through the board by a spirit murdered by Puritans long ago.

I've never used one but my mom and my aunt have before. They were in high school and they were at their sister's house. They had her ask a question that they wouldn't know the answer to. She asked "Where did our mom grow up?" They both say that the pointer moved really fast and spelled out 'Pizza Hut'. They both said it was stupid and that it didn't work. Well the sister that asked the question said "Where mom lived, there used to be a Pizza Hut right beside it." I obviously wasn't there but I believe them. I've wondered the same thing, if it actually works. The only way to find out is to buy one and try it out.

Yes it does. But only with some people. My family used to get together at times and "play" the board. It worked really well for my mom, sis and myself. But as much as my aunt tried it would not work for her. If you do,be careful. Spirits will reveal things you otherwise don't want others to know. AND you don't know if the spirit that contacts you is really the spirit it says it is. It may be an evil spirit. My sis and mom got a really big scare the last time we "played." Suffice to say, we've never done it again.

Yes. I currently have a ghost trying to kill me because I got one. Never use an ouija board. Ever. I am supposed to die within a week.
