I never really understood Why in a world of P.C.(political correctness) and equality, one race, psuedo minority (homosexuality) could be valued more than another. How can that be?
If I get into a fight with a black guy (not beacuse of race, maybe he's just an ******), It could be prosecuted as a hate crime. Which means I could do more time than him, just because of my race, and his testamony.
The question ought to be, "has any minority ever been prosecuted under the hate crime act."

I would venture a guess and say no! This impplies that minorities are simply unable to commit a hate crime, which is totally untrue. Then why the low to no conviction rate?

Will Bobby Cutts be charged with a hate crime for conspiring with a another black female to kill a pregnant white woman? No way. I believe hate criame laws should be done away with, and everyone should have the chance to be prsecuted under the same laws, unstead of seprate laws for seperate people. How can we all be equal but suffer different conseqences?

Let's pretend that there is not hate in every crime. (By the way, greed is a form of hatred)

I would say that the biggest problem is not categorizing hate crimes separately, but not calling them equally.

In today's society, if a minority or a gay is the victim, it is a hate crime, but if a white person is the victim and a minority or gay was the perp, it is not a hate crime...As a matter of fact, the details are supressed!

So if you truly want to categorize hate crime, it must be based on the crime, not who the perp and victims are!

White people can have hate crimes against white people, etc.

The idea of a hate crime is that, in a way, you are committing a crime directed at a larger group of people based on race, sexual orientation, etc.. If you kill someone who is black and use a burning cross in their yard, you are also committing a crime against society in a way, thus requiring a harsher punishment.

Yes, and the worst part about "hate" crimes is they place higher value on the lives of their victims. Why should a perp be punished more for killing a homosexual male? It is still someone's child, boyfriend, grandson... regardless. The purpose is to discourage crime but simply highlights the inequities in our judicial system.

Not necessarily.

Some crime is a result of greed or desire or hopelessness.

The term 'hatecrime' results from the victim being singled out because of their race or religion or sexual preference or from some other factor that would single them out from any other victim!

Yes they do and oddly enough it is only a hate crime if the victim is jewish, black, asian, hispanic,bi-racial, gay and /or lesbian. While the "criminal" has to be white and hopefully male

Not really, Like theft, arson for insurance, accidental deaths, fraud, burglery, ect... Hate crimes are commited specifically towards an individual purely because of his Race, Creed, or Sexual orientation.

It's all politically-correct bunk. Just another reason why most politicians should become hanging cadavers like mussolini was.
