talk is that they/NBC would buy Conan's contract out so Stewart could take over for Leno...even tho was was planned was Conan taking over . It isn't as tho NBC has screwed over heir-apparent hosts before! How do you think Leno got his job anyway - besides being funny...?

It would be a total sell out, and he couldn't continue in the manner he now does. He would have to suck up to guests, and would lose everything that makes him 'him.' If he does, it is only for the money, which I suspect he has enough of.

Jon won't be taking over for Leno, because it's already been announced that Conan will take that slot.
NBC might want Stewart for Conan's timeslot at 12:30 (east coast). I heard Jon say in an interview that interviewing guests is his least favorite thing to do on his show. And his show is walking away with most of the awards, so he may stay where he is, but money talks. And he could learn to love interviewing real fast. lol

Conan is definitely taking over Leno's spot. That was already announced months ago. I wonder if they are trying to groom Carson Daly for Conan's spot. Carson has cleaned up his look a lot since the beginning of "Last Call". The show has also improved over the last few years but I'm not sure it's good enough for an earlier spot.

I hope beyond hope that Letterman doesn't take over for Conan. He is SO not funny, and I love Late Night. I wouldn't mind if they gave Jon Stewart a try, so long as he didn't try to make Late Night into The Daily Show.

Well, he won't take over for Leno because Conan's taking over The Tonight Show. I'd like to see him in the Conan spot but I doubt he'll switch networks now.
