On June 18, 1812
The United States of America declared war on Britain for a number of reasons:

1) Outrage at the impressment (seizure) of thousands of American sailors,
2) frustration at British restrictions on neutral trade while Britain warred with France,
3) American ships being seized by the British,
4) and anger at British military support for tribes in the Ohio-Indiana-Michigan area.
