Over the last 8 games they've scored 58 runs and banged out 34 extra base hits yet they are 2-4 during this road trip. What can they do to save this season?

I like the Astros, I like all the players and I even don't mind Phil Garner... BUT! I don't agree with his pitching moves. Sometimes he takes Roy out too early... other times he leaves in a struggling reliever, etc, etc. He just seems to keep making the same mistakes with the pitching rather than learning from it.

I'm a big Astros fan, and I'll always be hopeful that they can pull something off... Go 'Stros! :-)

Nothing. It's time to stick the fork in.

Well, okay, not quite yet, because Biggio's Quest 3K is still ongoing, which is holding the team hostage to it. Once he gets there, gets a little bit past it to look not quite so desperate, he can be benched a lot more and Burke given the 2B job at last. Bidge, luv ya dood, but you're done. Get to, oh, 3025 hits, and while you're at it, try to get plunked five more times to pass Jennings for the record.

Garner HAS to go.

Everyone on the roster is trade bait except Pence, Berkman, and Oswalt -- even Lee, if he'll take a deal (he has veto rights). Sell what they can, get what they can use. (Obviously Biggio isn't going anywhere.)

Come the offseason, blow up whatever else is left, sign some warm bodies, give many kids a chance. The Killer Bs era is over, Biggio just hasn't left yet. Any contract that expires after this year doesn't get re-signed. Top priority after a new manager is to get a real catcher. I like Ausmus but he's old and a weak hitter. Enough is enough. 2008 is, think, Purpura's make-or-break season. If he doesn't know how to rebuild a team, he's not the right man for the GM seat.

Oh, and sign Clemens.

they are going to be aggressive, however the play for now physique of innovations would be painful. With Tejada, he has been in secure decline, and if he became into juicing, the decline will proceed. They picked up Bourn to change a guy in Josh Anderson who had rather the comparable skills. they could commit to Towles over Ausmus or the catching place would be a screaming vortex of suck for yet another season. i comprehend he's great with the staff - make him the pitching coach, purely get him out of the batting order! Berkman is great, and Hunter Pence would be a great performer. i desire Lee keeps to be healthy, and Wiggington performs far greater helpful than his history could advise. The pitching team, different than Oswalt and Valverde, is unquestionably frightening. Woody is a occupation finishing arm harm waiting to take place, and Wandy nevertheless needs to evaluation that greater strikes are a marvelous component. they have traded off the appropriate minor league pitching team in baseball over the final 2 years in dropping Hirsh, Troy Patton, Matt Albers, and Mitch Talbot... I certainly have observed the Astros because of fact the early 80's, and that i'm arranged to be very annoyed this season.

Give up to the Brewers. Everyone is whining about the poor cubbies, astros, and cardinals. I think it is the brewers time. They are the best team in the division. Get used to the astros sucking because the brew crew has that division locked up for the next 4 years.
Seriously though. The stros need pitching bad.

I think the franchise needs to finally start playing for the future. Either trading Oswalt for a lot of young talent, or sending out Lance Berkman for a few less prospects and trying to use Oswalt as the mentor to some young pitchers. I wonder what they have ready for Craig Biggio's retirement, and they held out hope a little too long on Jeff Bagwell.

They need good pitchers. They should trade all the unnessary guys like players they dont use to much or guys that are doing horribal. They also need to trade the relivers. Mark Mclemore was doing great with 1 hit and 5 ks in 2 innings. But they sen him down. Trever Miller is doing horribal with 7 era but he is still in the big leagues.
They need to bring the goood playing guys up and send down they guys that are struggling live Miller. i hope Backe wll be out of DL soon. He will help them alot. I heard he may come out of DL in begging of july
