Check the "num lock" key. Is any thing stuck in the keyboard jamming a key, like a paperclip? Restart the computer. Check that the keyboard is properly connected.

In your laptop, should have a switch to turn the keypad on and off, if not look for the control panel and verify the mouse controls, but this have to be done using another USB mouse.

Make sure you have got the right settings for your keyboard should be british not (amercan, british).......
