After watching a steady stream of effluant pouring out of my TV describing itself as "comedy", I am losing all hope of ever watching anything remotely funny (except QI and Family Guy/The Simpsons.

To add insult to considerable injury, I was wondering how many people feel the same about UK comedy and situation comedies, and would like you to name the very worst ones that you have seen.

Cheers! (that means thank you. Not the US sit com)

The I.T. Crowd was an embarrassment
and as for Benny Hill thats so old it's antique thats why it's so bad
the first few series of My Family was ok but now it's dreadful too
what ever happened to good comedy like Ab Fab, Alias Smith & Jones, Not the 9 O'Clock news etc. We need something new.
I enjoyed The Royle Family and Shameless but you can only take those series so far then they have to end.
I watch some US comedies like That 70's Show and channel hop for my favourite stand up comedians but yea you're right British Comedy seems to be at an all time low.

The worst UK sitcom ever was Whoops Mrs Rothchild Your Husband's An Unconvicted Paedophile.

The second series Oh Mrs Rothchild Your Brother Is A Lax Rastafarian wasn't commissioned because the script had little new to offer that Porridge and its sequel Going Straight hadn't already covered.

Well, I'm from the US, and I have to say that I've seen a lot of British comedies that I like. Of all of them, I guess the one I would say that I like the least is "The Benny Hill Show". There are some parts of it I find kind of funny, but just how many times can you watch a guy look up women's skirts and get kicked in the crotch?

Have found over the years that sit coms on telly generally consist of middle or upper middle class situations with a notable few exceptions.

Worst comedies are the ones written by Carla Lane. = Bless this House, Bread, Liver Birds to name a few

Yeah that's slightly demanding at instances it meant to be diffused so its suggestive to the objective audience, yet your ideal that's demanding. I keep in mind a comedian strip French & Saunders did with canned laughter so humorous, and thats yet one greater reason i enjoyed the Royale family contributors because it became into the only comedy to no longer be filmed infront of an objective audience or had canned laughter further.

Usually anything made for the BBC.

Can't remember what it was called had Amanda Holden & Jamie Theakston in it.
Yeah just any BBC apart from back in the day when it was Men Behaving Badly and 1 Foot In The Grave.

Worst comedy drama I've ever seen is on Sky One, and I think its old. (I hope to God, its old.) Mile High? About air stewardesses. Stars one of the male twins from Hollyoaks: the one who is marrying Tina. Absolutely dreadful.
