Any women out there who have received something that they liked for their 40th?

40 is usually a very hard birthday for all women. I think the most important thing that you can do is show her that she still has it !!!!!!!!!

Good heavens, this is too easy:
1. Buy her a day at the spa...every 40 year old woman wants to feel pampered.
2. Buy her a pair of diamond earrings. Spend what you can afford, they don't have to be big, just as long as they are "real" diamonds.
3. Make sure you deliver items 1 and 2 like this:
Tell her you're going to take her out to dinner for her birthday, but you have a little surprise for her first...arrange to have a limo pick you up in front of your house with a boquet of roses inside. Have them call you a few minutes before they arrive and when you go out to the car, there's a limo out front. Get in the limo, and after it pulls away, give her the flowers and tell her that you're taking her someplace special. The limo drops her off at the spa, you wait, when she's done, you have the limo take you two to dinner, but on the way there, you give her the earrings. Trust me, she'll be telling her friends about her birthday for years to come.

I'm not a 40 yr old woman, but I have to commend you on your YA answers. You are hilarious and helpful to people at the same time.
So, whatever you get your wife...make sure you are a part of it. Maybe take a message class or something with her and practice on each other.
Your cool, I bet she is too.

kind of depends on what you have gotten her before, and how much money you got.
but here is an idea, the 40th wedding anniversary is ruby, why not do it with celebrating the anniversary of her birth with ruby, it signifies 40 years. make it a point to let her know that you came up with this idea and how.

It depends on the type of person she is -- whether she wants to ignore it or celebrate it. If she is the kind to celebrate then get her something personalized - perhaps a gold plated rose with a "Never fades"-type message. If she is worried about it then a spa gift certificate all the way...

I got divorce, but that was my choice. I would suggest getting her something she always wanted, like jewelry or a dream vacation.
