HighSpeed is usually via a cable company, while DSL is normally via Phone company.... the latter is normally more dependable, but the first one is way faster. I personally have HighSpeed, and as long as there is Cable TV, there is internet... really, really really fast internet :D hope this helps

There are two principle types of high speed internet access also known as broadband.

DSL - delivered over telephone wires. DSL is highly sensitive to distance from the telephone company central office to you. So if you live to far from the CO, it won't be available to you. For DSL to be usable, you should live within 10K (wired) feet from the CO. You might live closer by road, but the wires on the poles don't necessarily travel the most direct route.

Data over Cable, comes from your local cable TV provider. Cable is not as distance sensitive as DSL. Odds are if you can have cable TV at your home, you can also get data over cable.

Both DSL and cable companies are offering something they call triple play, which is one service that includes voice, data and tv together in one package price.

DSL is Digital Subscriber Line and is the same as broadband or ADSL or high speed internet.
Sometimes down your cable TV and somtimes over the phone lines.
