She's gonna be 29. She likes music, poetry, museums, stuff like that. She's pretty simple to please and doesn't ask for much but I really want to do something nice for her this year, the last year of her twenties. Any original ideas?

Then take her to a romantic dinner. If you know what her favorite food is, then that is always a good choice or if there is a place she has been talking about dining at, that is good to. If you can, write down 29 things you love about her. I am sure you can do that. :o) Then present to her 29 white long stem roses and 1 red to let her know you will love her as much at 30 as you do right now at 29. As you are giving her each rose, let her know that each one is a reflection of who she is to you. Then the last rose, the red one, that is your time to let her know how much you love her! Attaching a small piece of jewelry to it won't hurt either.

Good luck to you......... :o)

Take her to a museum for a little while (closer towards evening). Then when you leave, go for a walk. Hopefully you have some kind of park nearby or anything like that, or you could just go back to your house/apartment. Have a picnic set up there in advance with candles, yada yada (you get the idea). Play some of the music she likes, and read her a poem that you wrote her. Talk and have fun. Then go home if you aren't already there before the mosquitos eat you alive. :)

When people ask me this question I always give this answer...you have to sit down by yourself with pen and paper...begin to list all her favorite things....until you get a list of at least 29...it could be as simple as a cd of all her favorite songs...or a gift card for $5 to cold stone creamery for her favorite ice cream...it could be a homemade coupon from you stating that she can redeem this anytime she wants you to...wash her car...make dinner...whatever...make sure it's something she really doesn't like to do that you usually frown upon doing...after you make your list...on the nite of her birthday take her out to dinner..and then have her sit as you begin to present her with 29 of her favorite things make sure the last thing is something huge like a weekend for the two of you at a resort or spa she has been wanting to go to...or a pair of Jimmy Choo Shoes she's had her eye...I don't know you can be creative and practical at the same time...two of my friends took my advice and did this and their mates loved it! Have fun-

Find a pretty field somewhere in the middle of nowhere take a champagne and strawberry picnic and a nice tent. If she's down to earth she'll love it, it's romantic and you can spend some undisturbed time together. Don't 4get to switch off your mobil;e.

Get her a leather journal with a nameplate that you can have made and installed at Things Remembered. BORDERS has the best journals. Get the kind that have the leather strap closure. They make you feel so alive. She can write, draw, record, embrace, be inspired and remember you and your cleverness forevermore in that journal. Peace.
