I have been living a happy life in all of my 64 years in this physical earth. It is just a matter of practicing mental dynamic attitudes. I have my bad times in my life, I have my good times also, the worse time and the best times and I just follow Pauls principle in Romans 8:28, "All things worked together for good to those that love God". I know who am I, what am I, and my part in God's eternal program as revealed in the Holy Bible.

There's such a thing as having a life not worth living, e.g., if you were in an accident that left you in constant pain, horribly disfigured, burden on your family (or maybe your family died in the accident and you have nothing left to live for). So a mostly unhappy life would probably fit in that category. Many people measure a successful life by how much *net* happiness it contains (after factoring sad/painful moments). And many conclude that quality of life is better than quantity (with some caveats). So the choice seems easy: a mostly happy life with a likely possibility of death (um, like the lives some of us have now).

The question at hand goes much deeper when you look at the causes of happiness and sadness, rather than just the simple choice.
If you take an analytical look at it, the choice is made on your behalf by the life that you lead. If you live in fear, you will undoubtedly be unhappy. If you live in Love, happiness will not be the unachievable, but the unavoidable.
So, in my opinion, a more appropriate question would be... Would you rather live a Loving life, or a fearful one?
I choose Love.

Wonderful question!!!
Of course, we all want to live a happy life on a sustained basis.... it is just that small matter that we do not know how to. We keep trying various ways throughout our life and more often than not, keep coming a cropper. Our mind is a naughty monkey, jumping here, there and everywhere and never settling down at the ground level in a peaceful manner. Our needs and desires just keep multiplying as we keep satisfying them one by one and at all times there seem to be more cropping up than we can satisfy. Our ego keeps getting upset every now and then letting us no reprieve from agitated dissatisfaction. Yes, we keep trying to be happy and the process just goes on and on like an unending continuum!! It all boils down to a battle against our own self that very few of us have learned to win, because this battle is not won by fighting........ it can only be won by humility and acceptance.

I have chosen to live a happy life. However, the world around us sometimes affects that happiness because of its own choice. Too find happiness with evil and making others feel unhappy and unworthy of anything more than that.

I have had to many unhappy moments in my life and not enough happy ones.
I don't choose to have an unhappy life. I would rather have a happy one but it's hard to have a happy one when there are too unhappy moments in it. It's too hard, in this day of age, to be an optimistic person.

I lived today in the moment and I plan to live tommorrow when it comes. When I live in the moment, I don't have to think about being happy I just am. So in choosing to live in the now I guess you could say I am choosing to live a happy life. You are absolutely right, we have the power to choose.

I have choosen to be happy. Over the past few years, I have been trying my hardest to control the things around me and it hasn't worked in my favor. I was miserable and never satisfied. When I decided that I would no longer put energy into things which I cannot control and instead put my energy into things that make me happy, my entire life changed. I got a better job, my relationship got better, my health got better...I am very happy because I consciously decided to be happy.

Likes the downs almost as much as the ups but the bests are the transitions the gut wrenching, tear jerking, heart melters, you know the kind that leave you feeling played like an emotional instrument.
